Cleantech for UK Showcases Edinburgh Cleantech Innovator Carbogenics to Secretary of State for Scotland

May 19, 2025

As part of our work to bridge UK policymakers with pioneering climate innovators, Cleantech for UK was pleased to host Ian Murray MP, Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South and Secretary of State for Scotland, on a site visit to Carbogenics in Edinburgh.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase Carbogenics’ cutting-edge work in biochar innovation, including a tour of their production facilities and the UK Biochar Research Centre, based at the University of Edinburgh’s King’s Buildings campus. Ian Murray MP met with the Carbogenics team to learn about their patented CreChar® and FilaChar® technologies, which turn organic and hard-to-recycle waste streams into high-value biochars for applications in anaerobic digestion, wastewater treatment, soil enhancement, and long-term carbon sequestration.
